Thanks, he is waiting primer, my paint booth is delayed by weather, but I think he will get Primed Wednesday night. The fell Blade is coming out really good, pictures here soon.
yes the Spartan kit was really hard. Lots of LARGE very warped pieces. I actually had to boil a large pot of water. The Raptor kits are NOTORIOUSLY hard. Go slow, do lots of test fitting and when cutting a little at a time. Also, Find a good 5 minute epoxy, not superglue for large connections. it bonds far strong and gives you some "working time". On the Daunting, it looks daunting, but once you get into it, it will go quickly. I had a warhead sitting for 9 months because the legs just looked like they would take days, it took me 3 hours to do it.
I use regular dish detergent, I give them about a hour soak in a liquid soap and water bath and then scrub them with a fingernail brush. If you have any "shiny" spots, like glossy, lightly sand them, primer will not adhere at all. It's a defect in the casting Also use a quality primer, Tamiya, GW and P3 are all good. I used to use auto hobby store primer, but it just doesn't coat as well as the ones designed for models.
Get to work on him! (Just added your blog to the list on my site, Chris!)

ReplyDeleteHave you built a fire raptor or similar kit yet? I just got mine from FW and it is daunting just to start
